Meet the experienced and friendly doctors who make Premier Eyecare & Eyewear the leading provider of vision care products and services in Grandview.


Christa Dawson, OD

Dr. Dawson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. She graduated with cum laude honors in 2004 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN earning her Doctorate of Optometry degree. While at Southern College of Optometry, Dr. Dawson received the Clinician of the Year award in patient care and was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. She was also the recipient of the Kentucky state optometric education scholarship.

After completing internships in retinal disease and management at Southern Eye Associates in Memphis, Tennessee as well as primary care and contact lens in Brentwood, Tennessee, Dr. Dawson returned to Memphis to work in a family eye care practice. At that time, she also became a clinical instructor at Southern College of Optometry. In 2005, Dr. Dawson moved to the Kansas City area and joined Grin Eyecare of Grandview, Missouri. In 2010, Dr. Dawson took ownership of Grin Eyecare of Grandview and founded Premier Eyecare & Eyewear, a practice dedicated to personalized, family eyecare. She is a member of the Grandview Chamber of Commerce and is on the board of directors for Grandview’s Art on Main.

Currently, Dr. Dawson focuses on primary eye care. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages, including kids and seniors. In addition to comprehensive eye examinations and contact lens fittings, Dr. Dawson diagnoses and treats conditions such as dry eye syndrome, allergies, infections, injuries, and glaucoma. Her clinical interests also include ocular disease, macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma management. Lastly, Dr. Dawson co-manages cataract surgery and Lasik.

When Dr. Dawson is away from the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons as well as visiting family in Kentucky.


Lori Swopes, OD

Dr. Swopes, a native of Cole Camp, MO attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, majoring in Biochemistry. She graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry in 2003. She was honored at graduation by receiving the Contact Lens Faculty Clinical Excellence Award, the Missouri Optometric Association Leadership Award and the St. Louis Optometric Society Leadership Award. Her training includes internships at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Kansas City, TLC Laser Vision Center in St. Louis and Koetting & Associates in St. Louis.

Before joining the doctors at Premier Eyecare & Eyewear, Dr Swopes practiced at Snider & Swopes Optometry in Harrisonville and Pleasant Hill, MO. There she focused on primary care, as she also currently does to patients of all ages. Her areas of special interest include diagnosing and treating ocular disease, preoperative and postoperatice care of cataract and Lasik patients, contact lenses as well as pediatric examinations.

Dr Swopes is a member of the American Optometric Association and Missouri Optometric Association. She is also a member of the Optometric Society of Greater Kansas City, of which she is past-president. Dr Swopes was awarded the Young Optometrist of the Year for 2006 by the Missouri Optometric Association. She also volunteers by serving on the Board of Preschool at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Raymore.

In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, movies and spending time with family and friends. Dr Swopes, her husband, and two daughters reside in Raymore.


Aaron Florkowski, MD

Dr. Florkowski is a board certified ophthalmologist and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has been in practice since 2001 and has performed over 3000 laser, surgical and refractive procedures including LASIK, PRK and cataract removal.

While studying medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Dr Florkowski was honored with membership in the Alpha Omega Society; an honor given only to the top medical students. During his medical training, he was actively involved in research and has published several articles.

Following medical school graduation in 2000, Dr. Florkowski completed an Internal Medicine internship at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Florkowski’s ophthalmic and surgical training was completed at the Eye Foundation of Kansas City. During that time, he was twice honored as “Consultant of the Year” by the emergency room staff at Truman Medical Center.

Dr. Florkowski is married and has 2 daughters. When not caring for your eyes, he enjoys flying planes over the Midwest and spending time with his family.
